@VickiBatman ~ Does Music and Memories go Hand in Hand?

~And I Love Her~

Music and memories go hand in hand. The other day, I clicked on an easy-listening iTunes playlist I'd created, and the Beatles' song, And I Love Her, came up.

Once upon a time, I was a young single chick and liked several guys. I went on a casual night out with a friend I had stirrings of feelings for. I think he did too, but was afraid to act on them.

So we went to a show, and afterwards, we drove around town with the windows down. I pushed my long hair out of my eyes and let the moment take me away. At the end of the evening, this song came on. He turned to me and sang the whole thing. I part of me wanted to believe this meant more than just singing a song. But I'll never know. He didn't kiss me good night or utter another word. He dropped me off and drove away.

Not long after, I met another who chased me until he caught me. He couldn't and can't sing well, but he tries. LOL

Obviously, this was a strong memory because I remember it blanket-blank years later. And hearing the song makes me wonder whatever happened to that boy and a bit wonders what might have been.

Do you have a song that is special to you?

Hands down, Brian Adam's "Have You Ever Loved A Woman?" Lovely melody, and the lyrics are pure poesy.

Vicki, sounds like a good start of a story. Did you know I saw the Beatles TWICE - live? Oh, it was blanket-blank years ago!

Love songs are like books to me. I have so many favorites, I can't pick just one!

Music goes straight to your subconscious which is the reason we remember stupid advertising jingles and some of us have to repeat the alphabet song in our heads when filing!

We all agree you need to put this story into a well LOL a story! As for a song, what comes to mind is an old Nat King Cole song, "It's not for me to say." Lovely, singable melody. That's really what popped to mind when I thought of your question, tune words and all. And I never remember words or titles. Good post, Vicki

Hi, Rayne! That is a beautiful song. What I want to know is what memory does it evoke. Want to share? hugs

Hi, Jan! You know, I never thought of using in a story, but now....

I'm jealous. Twice?!!!

Hi, Pam! It is hard to pick one. Whenever I hear the Beatles' song, I am sent straight back to that moment with the young man.

Very interesting about music and the subconscious. Yes, I sang when filing. lol

Hi, Marsha! Okay!!! I'll write a story with the song. I love Nat King Cole. When #2 was little, I played his CD all the time. #2 sang L is for the way you look at me. O is for the only one I see...

He also sang Meatloaf's I will do Anything for Love. Thanks, Marsha!

"The Way We Were" -- it reminds me of my crush on Robert Redford.

Hi, Angela! That song is so tied to the movie and him. OMG, the last scene is priceless.

well - I don't have a favorite song memory- but play a hit from high school to first child and I can place it based on where I was when it was popular. Some times it's related to a man or a place or a friend - but either way the journey back is always fun
