@VickiBatman - #Needlepoint passion. New pillow #MFRWblog

Writing isn't my only passion. I love needlepoint.

I started a new project this past week, a pillow. I hadn't done one in a while and saw this one in a catalog. It fit so well with my family room's décor. I have done nothing in needlepoint for that room. (Adorning with my handbag doesn't count. LOL)

So I started with this:

Frownie face. I should have known. No painted canvas. HOWEVER, upon long examination this canvas wasn't so bad after all. The pattern had a good layout on the canvas and a great color guide. Only one simple bargello stitch and I took off. At the end of week 1, I had this:

Aren't the color combos great? I am amazed at how fast this is going. Wish me luck!

FINISHED!!! Took approximately four weeks and have finished the pillow top. I like it so much, I ordered the sister pillow. Here it is:

Are you a crafty person?

Nice design! If you decide against the pillow you could always make it into a purse! I love to do crafts, but I'm more motivated when I'm with other people doing the same thing - so I make quilts with my quilt group, scrapbook with my scrapbook club, make greeting cards at the Stampin' up lady's workshop, and paint signs when my girlfriend has a painting party. In the meantime all the materials I've purchased sit in my basement or my workroom, unused.

Hi, Patricia! I loved this design. I wish the sister pillow was as easy. Sigh. I think using our creative brain in other creative pursuits helps my writing. As for the materials... don't we all do that? lol

Wow. Love it, Vicki.
I used to love doing needlepoint with my mom. She used to take it everywhere—waiting rooms, airplanes, the beach—and someone would always engage her in a conversation about it. :)

What a super project! Well done, you. :)

Howdy, Ms. Essex! and thank you so much. I like needlepoint because most projects I do fit in a small bag and I can take anywhere. Yes, many people have asked me about it too. And I have gone to the company convention and chatted in the lobby with company people. I pack an extra small zip and stitch kit and share with others my passion. Love you!

Very pretty, Vicki! I like.
I used to Cross Stitch. Then I found I love jewelry making. I discovered loom knitting.

I agree with you. Doing craft work does stir my creativity also and so much fun!

Hi, Phyllis: I made jewelry too and gave it up for writing. lol. I embroider on occasion. Get out the glue gun and work on other things. It's fun too.

What a beautiful pillow! I'm dying to see your handbag. Is it finished??

I like to make jewelry when I get a chance. Not enough time though in the day. Maybe when we can work out cloning!

Hi, Melissa! Thank you. The Paris bag debuts Monday, July 21. All the stages are featured. Thank you for asking. The Poinsettia handbag is still being finished. :(

I wish I had a talent for Needlepoint. Sadly, I can't even thread a needle to sew a button on my jacket.
