.@VickiBatman - #handbag Monday's guest doesn't always carry black! author Kayelle Allen #MFRWorg #RLFBlog #PlottingPrincesses #fashion

I am so honored to have my friend, Kayelle Allen, with me today. But seriously, only carries black?
~Handbag Monday~

And then she shows up with this picture:

This custom made bag features my website colors and was made to my specifications by TrampLeeDesigns on Etsy. How the designer and I met -- she saw one of my tweets on Twitter, followed me, and since I was scheduled to come visit you, Vicki, and talk about a handbag, I visited her shop on Etsy. One thing led to another, and after a bit of discussion about colors and patterns, She helped me come up with this bag. It's a heavy duck-type cotton that can take wear and tear, and the cool "kisses" pattern on the border is also the lining. She made a small zippered clutch for me to carry as well. So directly as a result of being scheduled to do a Handbag Monday, I got a new purse / carryall that I love. How cool is that?

Kayelle, you done well!! And I'm happy your appearance on Handbag Monday led you to a new treasure.

Love Etsy and love this bag. I think this is so cool and I have a little cloth bag that sits on my table at book signings that looks a lot like this.

Love the kisses!

Hi, D'Ann! I agree, the kisses are fun.

Thank you, Vicki! I've been toting this thing everywhere. I seriously only carry black handbags -- they go with everything and I don't have to worry about finding one. They're everywhere. But I decided this visit was time for a change. Thanks for being the positive influence like you always are.

Hi Kayelle,

Great handbag. Like you, I find a bag that goes with everything and just carry it. . . until it's worn out typically. Fun to see Vicki and other ladies collection though.

Btw, I have no idea where she got that print with the kisses, but is it ever perfect for a romance writer or what?

Hi, Kayelle! I love that I influenced YOU! and am dying laughing that you felt moved to make a change when visiting moi. You are awesome. ox

Hi, Pam! You know the story: I don't throw handbags away-usually. I have a wonderful clutch that I've had since high school. Over time, added a brown, then black, then larger when had kids, then bought some inexpensive ones at flea markets, etc. Gifts! So yes, I have a bunch. But I've actually purged too. ox

Kayelle, glad to meet you here on Vicki's page. She always brings me to great writers, bags, movies and well ... she does carry us to grand times.

Love that you found an Etsy vendor to make that great bag. I will be sure to visit her shop.

A Blessed Thanksgiving to all :)

I'm always open to change, but there are some things I don't because I don't think about them. I'm extremely creative, and have a huge world created for my science fiction universe, as well as my contemporary stories. But I eat the same thing for breakfast almost every day (A Zone Perfect Dark Chocolate Almond bar and milk). There are some things I purposely don't spend time on so I can have more time for other things. Choosing which purse, for example. But this was a chance for me to splurge and do something fun, and I'm so glad I did.

Florence, I hope you do visit TrampLee Designs. She has beautiful pieces, and if you want something unique, she's so easy to work with!

Who wouldn't want that bag?

Kayelle, it was actually some fabric that I picked up on sale after Valentines day. I am a sale shopper, so after each holiday, I grab up the fabrics when they go down super cheap for next year. In this business, you have to get started creating your products before they actually have the items in the store for you to buy, this way I am always prepared, and prepared cheaply. When you mentioned the hot pinks, and romance novels, I knew just which shelf to go to.. I am so glad that you like it..

Hi, Florence! so glad you came by. Florence has an ETSY shop too and we might have to get her to share handbags??? !!!

Hi, Kayelle! I know, there are some things I don't change much. You mentioned breakfast; I always eat one toast buttered, glass of milk, 1/2 grapefruit almost every day. Funny, isn't it?

Hi, Brenda! You never know until you shop that you might need something--right?

LOL

Hi, Tramp Lee Designs! So glad you have you stop by today and am excited to have you --I think-- in February. Fun!

How cool that you got a new bag out of it! :) My daughter believes you can't have too many handbags, but I'm a one bag girl!

Vicki Batman, sassy writer said...

Hi, Melissa! I'm thinking your daughter is cool. Hugs.

Woot! I'm a sale shopper too. My kids joke that when they were little I tried to tell them Christmas came on Dec 26th. LOL Not true, but it is funny and very like me. I generally carry the same bag, but I think I'm going to break that habit. It's time for a new me. :)

Kayelle Allen said...

Brenda, you're so sweet. I think I'm going to need something in blue soon. :)

Never tried Etsy, but with all of your recommendations, looks like I'd better check it out! Great bag, BTW.

Kayelle, that is the funniest thing I ever heard about Dec. 26 being Christmas. Seriously funny.

Hi, Barb! ETSY is great fun. I've bought many a needlepoint canvas and handbag. Right now, am looking at drum boxes for the boys. A vendor made a kitchen table for me. I've commissioned scarves, pins, and bracelets. Fun!

Perfect bag for romance writers. Definitely sets the tone and provides an excellent conversation starter.

I'm intrigued by your book's blurb, Kayelle!

Kayelle Allen said...

Thank you, Angela. When I wrote this book, I wanted to give the hero a job where he helped people every day so it would be natural for him to step in and help the heroine. I think we can all appreciate a man who steps up and offers a hand without being asked. :)

If you haven't tried Etsy, you should. It's a lot of fun. Just about anything that can be made by hand is there. I found shops that make kilts, shops for jewelry, shops for clothing... you name it. One kilt shop makes leather outfits, top to bottom. Another makes armor for historians and history buffs, people who like to do re-enactments and so on. There's something for everyone.
