Food = Good

Crockpot Baked Beans and Sausage
1 pound package, great northern or navy beans
1 medium onion, minced
2 garlic cloves, minced
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup molasses
3 teaspoons dry mustard
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
2 tablespoons ketchup
Water as needed
1 package beef sausage links, sliced

The night before, place beans in a pot and cover with one inch of water. Bring to a boil on the stove, cover, and simmer for 30 minutes. Turn off heat and let soak over night.
Next morning, place beans and water in crockpot. Add all ingredients except sausage in the pot and additional water for cooking. Cook at high for 6-7 hours, add water as needed, and stir occasionally. Add sausage and turn heat to low. Cook an additional 3-4 hours, stirring occasionally, until beans are tender.
Serve with buttermilk biscuits or cornbread.

Thanks for having me, Vicki. I love to cook so I'm always looking for new recipes. I just installed a commercial gas stove at my house, so you know I'm serious about good food!!

My hubby, at my request, gave me a new crock pot for Valentines Day. Guess which will the first recipe used? Yours, of course, because it looks delicious.

Speaking of delicious, the book cover looks good enough to eat. I'll be looking between the covers shortly.

Keep sending those great episodes and recipes our way.

Wow, Karen, you are a serious cook. I call myself a food assembler. lol.

Hi, J P Willis! That's so exciting he wanted a crockpot. I mostly use mine for Cranberry Tea and Queso. lol. Please come visit us again and again.

Vicki....Yes, I do love to cook. It's another form of creativity for me. On my to-write-list is a cookbook for retirees...hopefully 2016!

Karen, that recipe makes me hungry and nothing pleases me more than new bean dishes. They are warm, stick-to-your-ribs comfort food.

And the books sounds like a comfortable companion. Eat a hearty meal, read a great book. What more can we ask?

Thanks, y'all! I hope you enjoy the recipe. I've loved beans since I was a kid. My mom used to make navy beans with ham. Good memories!
