Nothing like a summer action thriller - Mad Max #actionadventuremovie #MFRWorg #lovemovies

Movie Mom on
Mad Max: Fury Road

Post-apocalyptic is not my cup of tea. I didn't even see the other three Mad Max films with Mel Gibson (he will always be the best in The Year of Living Dangerously). I wanted to see this film because of...Tom Hardy.

Ever since I saw Locke and The Drop, Mr. Hardy has caught my eye. Since seeing Mad Max, I've seen him in Lawless and several others.

Mad Max: Fury Road is a post-apocalyptic action film by George Miller, the fourth in his Mad Max franchise. Fury Road stars Tom Hardy as "Mad" Max Rockatansky and Charlize Theron.

In a desert wasteland where gasoline and water are scarce, Max joins forces with Imperator Furiosa to flee the cult leader Immortan Joe and his army.

My thoughts: I liked the movie and Mr. Hardy and Charlize Theron were good. It was never boring. In fact, it took off and never stopped, not even for a good rest. The neat thing about post-apocalyptic films is the creativity in the costuming and scenery. Someone had a good time, especially with the vehicles. And I'll never look at chrome in the same way. I decided I'm not a 3D person. My son, who went with me, saw it again not in 3D and enjoyed it much more. Definitely not for youngsters.

Are there specific film genres you prefer to watch?

Vicki, I have always found the post-apocalyptic a bit too predictable. That being said, I was a huge fan of the first-Mad Max. The second one was wonderful because of the children. The third lost me ... and frankly ... I think three-quells are about all I can stand. Even with Alien and then Aliens ... I was blown away ... then three came along and I said ... Okay, so things will jump out of someone's chest and everyone will die ... what else?

It might be happening to me with The Hunger Games. However, in that series, the last book annoyed the s$it out of me. It was like, I got paid and I have to end this and who can I kill now?

I will watch both of the Mockingjay movies because (1) I love the cast and (2) I can't wait to see how it plays out on the screen.

No way will I invest $$ to see this remake. It was done and done and done. And like him or not, Mel was Mad Max. Series get tired and then they lose me big time. Remakes or do-overs with new actors lose me at the trailer ... 3-D was unnecessary the first time around with the stupid glasses and I have no interest in having new technology jump at me now. They did it to Star Wars, so I am holding on to see what they are going to do this time. Maybe they have recaptured the magic or maybe it's just a production ploy to squeeze more $$ from Trekki fans.

Since we are both movie lovers, I will add that when writers and directors (i.e. James Bond) forget to tell me a story and insert car chases and revolving violence and action scenes instead, I call them lazy. No matter what the medium, I hate lazy. The best example of a series that worked from movie one to movie eight was Harry Potter :)

Florence-you are so right! Like i aaid, hadnt seen the others; so i was good with this one. Star wars was pretty sad after #2. Ive actually not seen harry potter, mockingjay, or the other one. Mostly, we watch indie films.
