Author Melissa Keir is Surviving in the Wild #camping #glamping #MFRWorg

Let’s Get to Know
...Melissa Keir

I never used to be a camper. I thought roughing it was a hotel without a pool. Now, I’ve been camping for years in tents and a trailer. I do have to say that the trailer is much better. It’s like a home away from home!

But if you were stranded on an island, what would you bring?

I would have a knife, tarp, rope, and pot. Using these items, I could survive easily on an island for days. The tarp could be used as a cover for my shelter or as a way to carry large amounts of items. The knife is important for defense but also for hunting, fishing, and creating my shelter. The pot could be used to boil water to make it drinkable or to cook dinner!

My husband is a prepper. We have all the materials we need to survive should we lose power or if the end of the world happens. Luckily, we lost power this last summer for five days and we did great at home. We had plenty of water and food. We even could cook.

Keira and Rob Matthews crash on an island and are forced to survive on the items they find in the luggage that floats to the shore. Thankfully, there is fresh water on the island and few predators. While this trip was supposed to be a second honeymoon, it ends up as a sexy camping trip!

Can Rob and Keira's second honeymoon lead to romance, or will it crash and burn?

On the verge of a divorce, Rob and Keira Matthews book a second honeymoon at the urging of their counselor. Unable to conceive, they've pushed each other away in an effort to protect their hearts. Will a romantic holiday be the ticket to love or a plane crash in disaster?

What is your idea of camping? A hotel or tents? And if you were stuck on an island, which items would you bring?

The word,"camping" isn't in my vacation vocabulary (smile!). Thanks for the post, and best wishes to you and your fellow authors on your fabulous book bundle!!

I recognize several names on that bundle so it looks like I'll have to get it! And I'm with Angela - camping is not in my vocabulary!

My husband and I love to camp, but we don't get out as much as we used to. Tenting it is our usual mode. I think your items for survival are great, Melissa. The only I'd add is a book.

Hi, Ladies! I camped as a Camp Fire Girl! and only rarely as an adult. I'm too attached to showers. Handsome said he wanted to get a small trailer and go around the U.S. I said fine, but I'm not cooking. LOLOL.

Thank you Vicki for having me on your blog! A small trailer is perfect! We love to do a lunch in town along with sightseeing and since the trailer has a fridge, we have leftovers for dinner! Win-Win (oh did I forget to mention the air-conditioning??)

Stanalei- Books! You know how many books I'd have to have to keep busy! Pretty soon, I'd be using the leaves to write my own!

Thank you Patricia. I hope you enjoy it! The stories span a wide variety of styles from paranormal, time travel, western and action-adventure... all romance though! We do need our happily ever afters! Especially if we are stuck on an island!

Angela- I never was a camper but having my trailer is perfect. I have a bathroom, shower, microwave, heat, air-conditioning...basically it's a little home! Best of all, I get hubby all to myself for a few days!!

I don't love camping, don't like to get dirty that much! But we go in tents once in awhile, and I always have fun.

Yogi Bear campgrounds are great, for a night or two, then get me to a tall hotel in the city.
I'm with Vicki—I am not cooking on vacation. Unless, perhaps, we could survive on s'mores.
Love the book bundle!

LOL, J M! Wow, that is one recipe I'd fix.

I only camp at 5 star hotels! Did a week in the far north of Ontario in February for a university course- that did it for me. I have camped with my parents in their very large and air conditioned RV.

Hi, Daryl! LOLOL. The first time I camped with hubby's family, they thought I knew nothing, Nothing-nothing. But I was a Camp Fire Girl for nine years and was a leader for the Camp Fire Summer Day Camp. Fire was a specialty. They went boating and came back to start the fire and went who built the fire? I said I had. They were shocked. And took my sons to Boy Scout Mom and Me weekend. For that, the number one item to bring was bug spray. I cannot stand the sound of mosquitoes in my ears when sleeping. I'd stick my boy next to me on the spread out bedroll, and tuck a sheet under the bottom and pull over our heads.

As for survival camping...that's a whole 'nother animal. I love watching Naked and Afraid.

There was a time I'd go "camping" but I've decided it's not what I call fun anymore. Although I am toying with the idea of buying a teardrop glamping camper and traveling to see all my friends while spending lazy mornings in beautiful locations writing. But I don't want to go to campgrounds which means "dry" camping. Everyone keeps screaming no!

Let's see. Laptop, toothbrush, camera, deserted island, knife, tarp, rope, pot, toss in a hunky guy... I might never come back! (Wondering if I could build my own WIFI tower.) I love the concept of Melissa's book, and Vicki I'm proud of you for showing off your skills to the in-laws.

I used to love camping but haven't been camping for years. I don't mind roughing it, it's part of the experience!

haha, E Ayers. They just thought I was so citified.

You know, Dorothy, it takes quite a bit of time to load up for camping, too.

Dorothy- Bless your soul. I am not a roughing it girl.

E- I have a wonderful little pill shaped trailer. It's adorable and perfect for us. You should check out Tab Trailers. They are a small perfect getaway size!

Vicki- you amaze me! I could probably start a fire if I needed to but I'd need all the supplies. :)

D-Ann and Daryl, I told hubby today that I'm done with tent camping. If we ever sell the trailer, I won't camp anymore! Just hate all the set up, take down and lack of AC!

JM... I saw the cutest recipe for s'more cones. Using waffle cones you put the s'more ingredients inside, wrap in foil and put near the fire to melt. I want to try it!

As I've gotten older my love of camping has dimmed somewhat. Don't know if I would survive if I crashed on a desert island. But I bet it would be an interesting second honeymoon. Your story sounds great.

Thank you Debra. :) I'm losing my love of TENT camping but when you can arrive in style.. that's so much easier to enjoy!
