Finishing a Book #amreading #romancebook #lovestory #RLFblog

Finishing a book I didn’t like...

Sigh. We’ve all been there. We check out the cover and like it. We read the blurb and like it. We might even read the first page and like it.
Then we delve in and get going. After a while, something seems weird or off and we begin to wonder how is this going?
The first indicator. Hmm.
But hey, we persevere because we might know the author and his/her work and it’ll work out. Right?
So not the case recently for me. You see, I belong to a book club and most of our selections are different from my regular romance or mystery reading. And this month’s book (I won’t name names) was pretty much awful.
It could be me. Maybe I read too fast and skimmed something important.
Yup, good ol’ justification.
Because I read this book for book club, I felt compelled to finish. I want to have good discussion about it. And a tinsy-tiny part of me thinks I will learn something even from a bad book.
So weigh in—finish bad book? Or not?
And speaking of good books, according to my sister, my romantic comedy short story, “Raving Beauty,” part of the Just You and Me boxed set, is the best I’ve written. If you want to know more, go to: iTunes

No. Sometimes I put the book aside, anticipate reading it later.

Hi, Angela! Truly, in my whole lifetime, I can remember not finishing two books. And yet, I remember the titles of the book because of the negative impact.

I tend to work on the philosphy that "life's too short for bad..."

books
coffee
you name it.

If I don't like the subject, the writing, etc. I have no problem putting it aside. Prefer to enjoy than suffer through anything.

Great post!

Hi, Liese! Last night, book club met and I swear that was the shortest meeting ever because no one liked the book. We really didn't have much to say except it was confusing, why did it get great reviews and author endorsements, and was it a ghost story.

Nope, if a book is boring or not what I thought it was and I can't get into it, out it goes.

I have a collection on my Kindle that says "Do Not Read" and I move them out of my library.

Great post!
Good luck and God's blessings

Hi, Pam! Of course we should dump the bad ones and not finish; however, this past one was for book club and I felt I should finish. That said, I just read a book and didn't care for the hero's name and thought the story was meh. Which made me think why finish it? Habit, I suppose.
