The couple in Vicki Batman's short story, Store Wars, must resolve an old and painful rift if they are ever to recapture what they once had. Janie McNeil is about to achieve her dream of opening a store in her hometown, only to discover Fletcher, her old boyfriend, is now in charge of the store across the street. The man had left their small town to pursue his career, breaking her heart and leaving her to nurse a grudge for eight years. All the emotions she'd thought she'd overcome resurface, and she wavers between succumbing to his attentions and manually removing his heart. Vicki's breezy and humorous style makes this a fun read that will keep you smiling all the way to the heart-warming end.
