~Handbag
Monday~
Sometimes, a handbag waltzes into my life and it is so precious. Look at this beautiful needlepoint:
Through Handsome's company conventions, I have made super special friends. One was cleaning out her mother in law's closet. Her MIL was taught needlepoint and crafted the clutch. My friend knows how much I love handbags plus needlepoint; so she gave it to me.
I was thrilled! However...
In my head, the bag lacked something, and I determined the something to be a handle. I went to my favorite Joann's and found this black one. It looks a tad Oriental which I thought went with the petit point flowers on the flap. I sewed on grosgrain ribbon and attached the handle. Voila.
But.... What would my friend say?
At first, she said nice, but didn't act like it. I was a little sad because I didn't want her to think I'd disgraced her mother in law's work. Then she came back and told me she did like it. Whew.
It doesn't hold a lot of *things* but it does hold a lot of memories.
Have you ever inherited a handbag and remembered something special about it?

I wish I had a talent for needlepoint...I'm lucky that I can sew a loose button.
