I loved Longmire; so when in 2014, word filtered through that the Western thriller had been cancelled at the end of three seasons--yep, that was just wrong
I was shocked! So were a lot of other folks. I began watching this superb show because it wasn’t about housewives, or chef cook-offs, or a badly behaving bridezilla. Nope, Longmire was about a sheriff, his staff, family, and friends who lived in a small Wyoming town. The series is based on the books written by Craig Johnson.
Many articles came out addressing the demise. It seemed the viewer-ship was primarily the average age of 60 versus 48, that the "demographics" weren't there. What a crock!
And A&E didn't produce the show, they bought it and that meant less dollars for them. They could make more with a reality show (didn't I hear something about Prison Life? Seriously???)

But thanks to folks like the Longmire Posse...
The Longmire Posse organized. They tweeted constantly with even the actors becoming involved. They set up a Facebook page and everyone became involved. Hints of Netflix riding to the rescue floated to our ears.
And Lo and Behold, the rumors became real. Netflix picked up Longmire and the show continues.

Handsome and I have been doling out episodes instead of binge watching. We want to make this last.
Are you a Longmire fan? Have you been a fan of a show and it was cancelled with you wanting more?
And if you like Longmire, consider tweeting: #LongLiveLongmire or #LongmireSeason5 !

I love Longmire and have since it first premiered. As a little girl growing up, westerns were a way of life. That's probably why I first started watching ("back to the thrilling days of yesteryear"), but I was quickly hooked. The writing, the acting, and the location are all vivid and integral to the Longmire persona. I recommend Longmire to anyone that gives me a moment to talk. I joined twitter just so I could stampede with The Posse and I'm pleased to say that I wear the badge proudly. Anyone that does not take the opportunity to watch Longmire is depriving themselves of a unique experience.
I'm with you, Jeanne (my sissie's name is spelt the same way!!!). I'd grown tired of the cops and robber shows and am soooo not a vamp girl. Everything about Longmire is great. After an episode, Handsome and I give each other a long look and say, yes.
I am delighted with the Posse and how hard they worked. Very proud!
Thank you for stopping by!!
Never heard of this series but I know what it's like to get hooked on a series and have it pulled away from you.
I really loved "Under The Dome" by Stephen King and just heard it's O-V-E-R.
AACK!
Hi, Patricia! Under the Dome is over? I didn't watch it--just not my personal style. I miss M*A*S*H* and Scrubs. Was a huge fan of Homicide. I'm wondering if it had good numbers? Sometimes, shows get pulled because creativity has run out. Saw a special about Jim Henson last night and he stopped the Muppet Show for that reason and to go out on top. I loved the Muppet Show! And now we know.
Longmire is well written and the acting is superb! That A&E decided to cut the show was beyond my understanding. I joined the Posse too. I tweeted and posted every chance I got. As the movement grew, I felt that the viewer loyalty was wonderful.
We don't watch anything on A&E. They can keep their reality shows, and we'll stick with Netflix...well, as long as Longmire has a home there! LOL...can you tell I'm still upset with A&E.
Long Live Longmire! :)
!! LONG LIVE LONGMIRE !!
I binged. TEN episodes in a row. Yep. I'll binge it again at Christmas.
Hi, Jerrie! I agree with everything you said. I think I used to watch L&O reruns on A&E, but they might be gone too. I was totally amazed by the viewer loyalty. Hugs!
Hi, Angi! TEN--bring it on. Handsome has been traveling. I'm hoping we can squeeze in a couple more episodes this weekend.
LOVE Longmire! I'm part of the posse that fought to keep this good show on the air!
Hi, D'Ann! And we writer gals who love Longmire stuck together and tweeted a bunch, didn't we?
I hadn't seen it but heard how wonderful it was. I'm always really glad when a show is able to come back after being taken off the air. It means that we don't have to put up with another cheap to make reality show!
I gotta check out this show! Thanks for the post!!
Great post, Vicki. Yes, I was a part of the posse, too. Loved this show and A & E was just stupid to drop it. The good that came from them doing so, was how it empowered the viewers. We're really not at the mercy of the networks. Well written. Well acted.
Sadly we don't do Netflix, so I miss the show. I have to get my hits from blogs like yours, Vicki. Thanks for posting.
Hi, Angela! Yes, do watch! You will like it because it isn't the traditional cops and robbers stuff.
Hi, Melissa! The Posse did a fantastic job and several of us writers did tweet and write about the show. You know if we liked it, it was good.
Hi, Marsha! I just started Netflix when we did a TV overhaul recently. I just may have to go back and watch all of M*A*S*H* and Scrubs for old times sake. I'm so glad we could posse together. Hugs!
