Recently, I attended CUT! Costume in the Cinema exhibit.
Costumes and clothing are near and dear to my heart as I was a clothing and
textiles major in college. I grew up with a Mom who sewed, although I was
terrible at it. She made beautiful Chanel styled suits and dresses for me for
work and even some for parties.
Thus, my appreciation.
The exhibit features 43 costumes from 27 films. Some
highlights are Johnny Depp’s outfit from Pirates of the Caribbean, Kate Winslet’s
robe from Finding Neverland, Emily Rossum’s stunning ballgown from Phantom of
the Opera.
British costumer Cosprop Ltd. earned its first Academy Award
for Costume Design in 1986 for A Room With A View, and has won many more since.
These opulent costumes are crafted of sumptuous fabrics and decorated with
intricate embroidery and lace.

Hi, Liese! I saw Downton Abbey costumes a few years back and was so enthralled and astonished. At university, we studied History of Costume. The local museum has many pieces of clothing to display. I loved it.
My daughter and I got to see costumes worn in Downton Abbey at the Biltmore Estate in Ashville a few years ago. It was very fun!

Hey, Vicki. What a fun post. I love costumes--probably from my theatre background and interest in history. Loved the undergarments pic. Reminds us of how lucky we are! I can remember the days when as a teacher you couldn't wear a pants suit! Love my jeans. I've shared. :)
