Handbags, Books...Whatever - Finding a New Name #grandmaname #MFRWauthor #cozymysteries #babynames

Over my lifetime, I've had several names. I was born Vicki Lea Means.

In grade school, there was at least three of us with the same name (along with Debbie, Susan, Kathy...) - Vickie, Vikki, Vickey.

When demanding my attention, my mother yelled, "Vicki Lea." Sort of a Southern scary Mom thing.

Along the way, I picked up the nickname Ugly. And sometimes, my sister (who is also an Ugly) calls me Ug.

My after college roomie called me Vicks. That's right--like in Vapo Rub. She still calls me this and I've always liked it.

I married Handsome and became Vicki Lea Batman. We had two sons and they call me Mom.

Now, I have to find a new name as #1son and his wife are expecting!

I'm not a Glamma, Grandma, Meemaw, Mimi, Jamma, Grandmother, Gig--you know there are oodles of variations out there. So I finally landed on VB.

Some people say the grandkids will name you. Yah, not into anyone naming me. Besides, my mom was called Nanny because she wanted to be and my sons called her that.

VB. It's different. How does that name sound to you?

What grandma name do you like?

I don't have a problem being called Grandma. Some of the kids shorten it to Gram. They refer to me as Grandma Sandy to distinguish me from their other grandmothers. I like it. I'm proud of it. That's a good thing considering I have thirteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. What can I say, we stay busy.

Mine call me Maw Maw (or in some places Ma Maw) they call their other grandmother T-Maw so... whatever he/she/they call you there is NOTHING like being a grandmother!

Congrats!
Good luck and God's blessings

Congratulations, Vicki. I'm sure your grandchild will love you no matter what they call you. A friend of mine, says GG works for her. She is a great grandmother, maybe something for the future?

Welcome to grandmothering! Some of my grandchildren call me Grandma, some Grandma Barbara, which is good for simplicity in distinguishing which grandmother is which. However, when my oldest grandson was in middle school, he took to calling me G-ma. Now that he's older, he's back to the normal. Pity, because I rather liked being G-ma. Be sure to let us know in a couple of years what your grandchild settles on :)

Congrats on the upcoming arrival! I love hearing Grandma coming from my boy. I guess it's because I have sweet memories of my own grandparents and I'd like that for him, as well.
Whatever you choose, grandparenting is the best!

Congrats! How wonderful! I just hope that it's a baby girl who loves purses as much as you do!

Hi, Barbara! I'm hoping VB sticks. My mom wanted to be called Nanny and so my kids called her that. Never had thoughts of anything else. I may bore you with pix and stories. LOL

Hi, Jacquie! We called my grandmothers Grandmother. Nothing shortened. I find it amazing my child is having a child. ox

My granddaughters call me Grammy. And I suppose my 6 month old grandson will too when he starts to talk. Whatever they call you, being a grandparent is just awesome. Congratulations to your family!

Hi, Marilyn! I considered Grammy. Then I decided I wanted something closer to my own name, thus, VB. Everyone says being a grandparent is awesome. I can't wait to find out. Three months to go!
