About Your Favorite Movie:
Based on letters between an officer and his wife during WWII, this film brought to life the struggles and adaptations made by families at home and the desperate loneliness that comes from being half of a whole and not knowing when, or if, reunion will happen.
I love black and white movies (I grew up with b&w tv for the first few years of my life), epic movie scores, and simple story lines portrayed by talented casts.
I first watched this movie when AMC
came out and immediately fell in love-with Claudette Colbert’s depiction of
lonely wife Anne Hilton, Jennifer Jones and Shirley Temple as her teenage
daughters growing to adulthood, Joseph Cotten’s unflagging support for his best
friend’s family, Agnes Moorehead as the jealous friend who says what Anne
doesn’t dare think, and Hattie McDaniel trying to keep everyone’s spirits
About the
Book:
Smooth and mellow meets spunky and sweet
Lisa Kirkpatrick is stubborn, but she's not stupid. If this guy needs a date to evade an unwanted admirer, who is she to object? It's not as if handsome men are lining up to ask her out. Sure, they know there's a woman in the wheelchair, but it would never occur to them that there's a WOMAN in the wheelchair. He notices. This solid, fun, straight-shooting guy ticks off every box on her ideal man list. But why do they call him Slick?
Roger Plankey thought his life was full until he walked into the town clerk's office and laid eyes on the woman behind the counter. A spunky, independent woman with a dash of humor and just enough sass to keep him on his toes. She fills that unknown void in his life like she was made for him. But is there such a thing as too perfect?

Welcome, Amber! I really like this movie too. It pulls all the heartstrings.
Hey, Vicki. Nice to meet you, Amber. For me, some B & W movies are too angsty. Though the acting is often superb. Fun to see this older version of Shirley Temple. I do love her dance movies when she was a kid. Your book sounds interesting. Thanks for stepping outside the lines to have a heroine in a wheel chair. I'm sharing. :)
Hi Marsha,
Thanks for stopping by!
Lisa had a small role in the second book in this series, a more prominent role in the third, and she just screamed, "Write my story!" So I did.
PS-Shirley Temple came out of retirement to make this film for the war effort.
