#handbag Monday - a gift from my mom #purse #accessories #shoes #fashion #MFRWorg #RssosSisters

Handbag Monday

Recently, my dad passed away. This means a new life adventure for my mom in so many ways, one of which is moving closer to my sister.
Before she did relocate, I visited with her in my childhood home and she said there were handbags ('cause she knows how much I LOVE handbags) in a bedroom. One was fairly contemporary and not my style, but is the style of a friend; so I'll undoubtedly share that one with her. The other was a simple gold box, probably from the seventies.
And this one...
As you can see, it is brown and could be lizard, maybe even faux lizard--I really don't know. She even had matching shoes and I wore those until my toes pinched too much.
The inside is a soft suede-like fabric in the palest pink. There's no maker's mark. A zipper pouch on the inside. Except for the four scratches in the interior, I would have thought she'd never carried it, but she did. This bag has very classy _all over it._
I love it! And I can't wait to show it off.
Thanks, MOM!

Coming soon and available for preorder now, is my holiday short story, "Holiday Handbag Extravaganza!" which is featured in the Season of Surprises anthology. Find a copy for yourself at: Amazon  B&N  iBooks

Hi, Angela! Thank you. So much happened this summer. Not likely I'll forget. I'm just glad everyone is at peace including my Scootie. Miss her my furry gal bunches.

The loss of a parent is so difficult. I wish you the best!
When my mom died, I helped my niece go through things at my mom's house and found I purse I absolutely loved. Still had the price tag on it and I suspected she had bought it for me...because it was sooo ME! I used it until it started to fall apart. I still have it. I can't let it go just yet...

Hi, Cathy! I love your story and I completely understand about not letting go. Memories of the things we love...

I have a box purse made by my friend Shirley. She gave it to me before she had been diagnosed a second time with cancer. I know she had to have made it in the sixties. I love it. I don't carry it often because I couldn't bear it if something happened to it.

Thanks for sharing today!
