Not the normal April Fool's Day
Let me tell you a fairy tale about a handsome prince (Handsome)
and beautiful girl (Beautiful)
Handsome loved Beautiful so much, he proposed to her.
She said yes. Afterwards, he departed on a plane for work. Beautiful skipped off to her apartment with giddy sensations rolling through her body.
And then...reality dawned.
Beautiful sat on the edge of her bed. Handsome had proposed on April Fool's Day. Had he really meant what he'd asked? Was this some kind of wacky joke? After all, he did make a fashion faux pas when he wore a sweater in July (very hot) and a flannel shirt (very warmish) in May. Maybe he was as weird as his clothing choices--except for the suits and the form-fitting jeans.
Beautiful had a fitful night with lots of tossing and turning.
The next day, Handsome returned from his trip and was greeted enthusiastically by her. Over dinner, she summoned up courage to say, "I was wondering… Did you mean what you asked last night?"
"Last night?"
She waved her fork, "You know..."
"Oh. You mean my proposal." His grin showed off his dimples. "Did you change your mind?"
"No, I was just curious because… Well, because yesterday was..." Beautiful lowered her voice to almost a whisper, "April Fool's Day."
"I get it. You thought I was joking."
She bit her lower lip. "Mmm..."
Handsome rose and bent to her, brushing her mouth with his. "I meant every word."
Beautiful stroked his cheek. Happiness spilled with the tears from her eyes. "Good." Handsome sat down and replaced the napkin in his lap.
She asked, "So would you mind…"
"Mind what?"
"Asking me again? Just to be sure."
Handsome picked up her hand, his thumb smoothing over her fingers. "Beautiful, will you marry me?"
"Yes."
They smiled, kissed again, and live happily ever after.
