@VickiBatman asks What's in YOUR Closet? It's #HandbagMonday & VB's Birthday!

*Handbag Monday*
It's #HandbagMonday and my birthday! So let's party. I can't wait to show you my gift to me.

I found this beauty on ETSY:

In a way, the bag is like a small satchel. There's a variety of pockets on the inside. It isn't very wide. Has an unusual arched handle with gold accents and a snap shut closure. And is a little heavy. That I don't mind as the bag is well-made.

Of course, you can see what captured my attention: the needlepoint which resembles an impressionist painting. Quite stunning actually.

The label says ROSENFELD. I did a search and found this on ETSY:

http://www.etsy.com/search?q=Rosenfeld+handbag/

The link may not work now. But if you can go to ETSY, type in the name Rosenfeld, some should show. What I saw made me gasp! When I searched further, I found this quote from Herald.net:

Harry Rosenfeld was an American designer active from the 1930s into the '70s. His designs were made by several different manufacturers. The bags were sold at high-end department stores and at Harry Rosenfeld Handbags, a shop on Madison Avenue in New York.

Rosenfeld designed bags in all sorts of styles, using all kinds of materials.

And here's a fab article from StoreBVintageChicago :

Need I say I am hooked? Mine cost $35.00. What a steal. What a perfect present to meeee!!!

Pay Attention #HandbagMonday lovers:  For my birthday, I am giving away an needlepoint zip 'n stitch crafted by me which contains something very nice inside (Starbucks gift card). Leave your email addy in the comments for eligibility.

Now, sing-a-long: Happy birthday VB! Happy Birthday VB!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Vicki. That handbag is really very cool and to think it was made by such a famous guy. It's gorgeous. Well, I love Impressionist paintings, so no wonder I love it. VERY unique. Have a wonderful day.

Happy BD, Vicki. Hope you have a super day. The handbag is lovely. I prefer to carry something across my shoulder rather than in my hand at my side. Part of that is when you're not tall, a very big bag can drag! LOL
Why do you use the term "handbag," rather than what I think of as more common, "purse"? Just curious. Enjoy your day.

Hi, Angela! I so appreciate you stopping by and your wishes. I'm having such a fun day.

Hi, Marsha! Large handles fall off my shoulders; so I go for small handles. Just like them. When the kids were small, long straps to wear across the body bandolier style. Purse is an older word used for storing money. Men and women carried them in a pocket hidden in their clothes. I just like handbag. I mean, #pursemonday???

Thank you so much, Helena, for stopping. That bag is just a pretty one. I couldn't resist. I rarely resist.

Hi, Ashley: and thank you for visiting with me. Now, don't you wonder why manufacturers aren't doing more of this thing? The closest I've seen is by Clever Carriage, but not quite like this.

My handbag that I showed you today was made by an artist in Provincetown, MA (Cape Cod) I got it at a gallery called the Cassandra Complex. They had a lot of cool stuff. It's a vintage silver clutch, hand-painted with a bird. I love it!

Hi, Melissa! I love this brand of vintage bags. I'm thinking more are in my future. Thanks!

Hi, Chris! I wish I stayed home and ate bonbons. The reality is I'd have huge hips if I did.

I just love needlepoint. I'm doing a special project now and will put a pix on FB, probably in December. It's so pretty.
