Boy, are we glad we did! Wonderful!!
Blurb: A group of lesbian and gay activists raise money to help a small mining village in Wales which is undergoing the Miner's Strike of 1984 and results in an alliance between the two communities. Starring: Bill Nighy, Imelda Staunton, Paddy Considine, and a superb cast.
My thoughts: I liked this movie a lot. The film focused on many individual characters' growth. It spoke to different groups coming together under the cause of caring for one another. The acting was good. The film moved smoothly along. And at the end, there were movie footnotes which highlighted specific real-life people. I got sobby about the wife who went back to college and became a member of Parliament.

This sounds like a good movie. Don and I didn't go to the movies last weekend because we couldn't find a film we just had to see. We are kind of waiting for the next Hunger Games movie, or something else to come out that we wanted to see. We will check this one out.
Hi, Sylvia! There are some quirks to the characters that are priceless. We saw it a while back; so may not be at the theaters.
You have done it again, Vicki. Love the movies you and Handsome see and this one sounds like a winner. Love it more that it is based on a true life event.
The character driven story is the best movie experience. BTW is this British?
They have a talent for bringing us some of the best.
I would also like to say that I am also hung up on Hunger Games. Do you and Handsome follow that series?
Hi, Florence! Yes, this is a British movie. They have great talent, and tend to do not as many blockbusters like the US. I see many a good film at the indie theater.
No, we don't follow Hunger Games. It might sound crazy to you, but I am not a dystopian fan.
Thanks for stopping!
I enjoy movies that revolve around the characters. Thanks for the post.
Just came by for today's post and saw your response. I have rarely enjoyed dystopian but for some reason got hooked on Jennifer Lawrence's character in Hunger Games. And even though I know the outcome, I enjoyed the first two movies and will wait for the next two :)
