Handbag Monday with...
Barbara White Daille
A smokin’ deal!!!
One of my BFFs can spot a sale price
sticker from the other end of the mall. I’m just the opposite, so when I
stumble across a bargain, it’s a big deal. And a great price on a handbag is the absolute best. This is one of my all-time-greatest bargains ever. I picked up this bag—genuine leather and fully lined, originally priced at $74.00—on clearance for seven dollars and forty cents. That BFF mentioned above was amazed when she heard the news. In her words: “But that’s NINETY-PERCENT OFF!” J
Have you ever gotten a great deal on something special?
Why is Tanner Jones back in town?
Seven-year-old Kevin has been a handful for single mom
Sarah Lindstrom. And when the new sheriff shows up holding Kevin by the scruff
of his neck for egging his car, she knows she's lost control.
Sheriff Tanner Jones has no idea Kevin is his son. He
lost the right to that information when he abandoned Sarah soon after
graduation. Just because he's back in town doesn't mean he can waltz into her
life—and Kevin's. But Sarah can't deny the feelings she still has for Tanner,
or how her son is benefiting from his attention.
When Tanner finds out the truth, what will he do?
Excerpt:
"Hey, you okay?"
Full of concern, Tanner turned to her and placed a huge
hand on either of her arms. She could have cried.
Always, he had held her just that way when he meant to
kiss her. Years of conditioning sent her eyelids fluttering downward. She
caught herself and jerked them open. Pulled herself out of his reach. Those
days of sweet kisses had ended long ago.
"I'm fine," she gasped.
"Sarah," Doc Thompson called from the front
table, "are you needing my services over there?"
She shook her head and coughed. "No, thanks,
Doc."
Shifting, she pressed her back against the wall and
crossed her arms over her chest. Her cheeks burned.
Tanner's blue eyes twinkled. Those sea-blue eyes, very
like Kevin's. With Tanner's so-called deductive ability, how could he have
missed noticing the similarity this morning?
What would he do when he finally made the connection?
When he finally uncovered the secret she'd spent so many years hiding, that
Kevin was his son?

I love that handbag. When it comes to handbags -- and me -- the more items I can stuff in it, the better!
Thanks, Vicki - I really do feel that find earned me a place in the Super Shoppers Club. :)
And thanks so much for hosting me today - what a fun blog theme!
Angela - I always look for bags that can hold a lot, too.
See those pockets on both sides in that picture? They're big enough to hold the case for my glasses and a water bottle. Double win! lol
The book sounds awesome! I scored a lined leather jacket for my husband for Chistmas..originally $250....for $60! Yeah, that was probably one of my better deals. My future daughter in law is like your friend..I love shopping with her because she finds ALL the deals...and yes, she was with me the day I found that deal!
Hi, Barbara! After working in retail for many years, the rule is "always shop clearance first." I found many a great deal there.
What a great excerpt! Thanks for sharing!
Liese
Cathy - wow, what a great deal! It's really nice that it was a gift for someone special, too.
I love shopping with my friend. She's fabulous at knowing what's on sale at different times of the year. I tell my husband that when I shop with her I'm SAVING money even as I'm SPENDING it. lol
Thanks for your kind words about the book!
Vicki - I was never a good shopper and only discovered the joys to be found on a clearance rack since I started hitting the mall with this friend. ;)
Now, we both scout clearance before the regular sales.
You're welcome, Liese! I'm glad you enjoyed the excerpt.
I love all my books, but this first one will always be special. And I had such fun writing Sarah and Tanner and Kevin's story.
Hi, Barbara,
The book sounds wonderful. So happy you're still writing your great books for Harlequin American. Oh, love the purse too.
Pamela - so great to see you here! Thanks for dropping in and for your kind words about the purse and the book.
Yes, I'm still plugging along, one word at a time. :)
What a beautiful bag! And at an amazing price! What a cute story!
Thanks, Melissa! I have to admit I did the happy dance for a while after I found that bag.
It's one of my best buys ever. Guess I need to get out (as in, go shopping) more often. ;)
Hey, you know what they say, Barbara - practice makes perfect! LOLOL
Vicki - that *is* what they say!
Wait'll I break this news to the DH. lol
