Handbag and Book with
Sue Ward Drake
I have always loved Coach bags because they're well made and last forever. The brass never tarnishes. This style has accordion sides, and you can see I make use that feature to stuff the bag to the gills. The top zipper means I don't lose anything out of the opening.

There's a long zipper compartment on one interior side for keys and pens and phone, though there are slots on the other side for phone and whatever else you want to carry. I have hand wipes and spot remover packets.

With two straps I can wear the purse over my shoulder or across body. The straps are sealed on the edges, and the stitching has never come loose. Best of all the lining is a rusty red, so I can see what's inside.

When a deaf artist is caught in an international conspiracy, can she trust the handsome—but suspicious—government agent who’s accompanied her to Greece?

For Molly Light, painting is her path out of a silent, solitary world. Awarded a once-in-a-lifetime trip to paint under the blue Grecian skies, she must accompany the handsome, enigmatic stranger who granted the prize. His every touch arouses her most secret desires, but, when their journey plunges her into a chilling conspiracy, Molly suspects he’s not the man he pretends to be.

Bent on revenge for the brutal torture he’d once endured, guilt-ridden loner Stefanos Metadorakis believes Molly is sharing top-secret military plans with the enemy. His instructions are to escort her, watch her every move and mood—not fall in lust with her. But he’s inexplicably drawn to this beautiful, damaged woman and before long their passions explode.

As distrust mixes with desire, dangerous enemy forces are closing in, their sights set on Molly. With their lives in the balance, can the lovers trust each other enough to foil a deadly international plot?

My favorite brand of handbags are those with a tag marked "on sale." In the meantime, the bag in your photo looks like the perfect "9 to 5" bag.

LOL!! It's pretty perfect, Angela. I just wish I could find a sale bag I like. I polished this up for that photo, but I haul it everywhere--and have been for about 3 years now. I would love to have a smaller bag, but I have too much to carry: reading glassess, sunglasses, makeup, etc. The seams are all sealed. There are no strings to come loose.

Hi, Angela! LOL. Sale is a strong motivator.

Hi, Sue! Thank you for being with me today.

What a pretty bag! Looks like one I would love! Loved the cover of your book! All the best!

Sue, sounds like a great bag. I, too, tend to load up bags. I keep trying for a smaller one. When that happens the small one ends up inside a bigger one with all the "stuff I can't do without."

Love your book cover and will be reading your book soon (it's in my TBR pile) - can't wait!

For every day, I have a small cloth bag made by the Amish. My granddaughter got if for me when she was on the East Coast Trip her junior year in high school---that was 5 years ago (or maybe 6, my math isn't that good). It's been in the washing machine a few times, has pockets for everything inside. It is true that if I wore makeup it wouldn't fit but it can fit a mass market paperback across the top. When I'm taking it And a bunch of other stuff, it will fit inside the larger bag - or not. So easy to pluck out and when it's on my shoulder, it fits right next to my body, under my arm. It's fantastic to find just the right handbag(s) to fit our needs?

Thank you, Melissa. I wouldn't exactly say it's a pretty bag. It was an unusual color. But it was BIG enouhg. I always take everything out of my current bag and make sure everything fits in the one I'm thinking about buying.

Thank you for your kind comments on the cover. I hope it suggests mystery and suspense. And of course Greece.

Deb, yes on the-wishing-I-could-carry-something-smaller! I hope you enjoy Stefanos and Molly's romance.

Judith, how great to have a bag you can put through the wash. Ah-ha. So you put that inside the larger bag. Knew it! LOL. I've thought about doing that, but I can never get that organized.

I have a favorite purse I adore. Has a place for everything! and I can' fit a book in the top. Unfortunately, the leather handles started fraying after four years of service to yours truly. And the leather dye was scraped off in places on the bottom of the purse. Hubby to the rescue!! He used leather dye to fix the bottom and made new handles out of leather he had. So my search for a new purse is over and I'm using my favorite old purse!! No brand name on it, but I did buy it at Macy's on sale!! I buy everything I can on SALE! Great blog post!

Diana, I really, really, really wish I could find what I want on sale! That's terrific about hubby repairing the purse. Save you from spending hours of fruitless looking.
I hope we both bet many more years of service out of your bags. :)

Hi, Diana! I've had handles made and had a bag spruced up with some dye on the corners. The body of the bag was in great shape; so worth fixing.

Nice bag, Susan. I've mostly carried non-descript, utilitarian bags over the shoulder to protect my shoulders after too many years of carrying way to heavy bags. A couple of years ago, my older daughter got me a new purse for Christmas. Said she was tired of me carrying "ugly" purses. What she gave me is a turquoise leather, fringed, smaller purse with a chain strap laced with leather. This strap could be a lethal weapon. But the purse is adorable and now whenever I carry it, strangers stop me on the street to say what a cute purse it is. Never had that happen in all the years before. So I guess, my daughter was correct, I'd been carrying ugly purses. Not any more. :)
