Over the past few years, I have stitched Christmas gifts for friends and my daughter-in-law. I've had a fun time making these things and not duplicating a gift from a prior year. I've made holiday aprons, dishtowels, and more. Handsome had a surgery last February and knowing I would have down time to stitch (between writing sprints), I needed a new project. I didn't want a big bulky project. And then voila!
I found the blanks online. I already had the transfers; however, some didn't have the cute sayings. I added those. I knew I wanted to stitch in all black thread and sew large rickrack around the edges. This picture shows me firing up the iron to complete the transfer.
This shows the completed transfers. Aren't the cute? I couldn't wait to stich.
And finally, the finished potholders. Some of the detail took patience, but I was determined. I would have showed them off before Christmas, but then I would have blown my surprise.
Are you a Christmas crafter?

What a great gift! I used to be a holiday crafter. Now, I let my husband do it. He makes beautiful stone birdhouses and vases. We gave those away this year to everyone!
Hi, Melissa: you are writing, which is art and craft. And I know you are super busy with many projects this year. That said, I would love to see your hubby's work sometime. Maybe you can put up a FB pic. Hugs!
Those pot holders are adorable! I would use them for a kitchen decoration!!!
What a neat idea! I just wish I could get up enough energy to do more. My mind has all kinds of ideas but then I can't find the energy to do them. I love reading about your projects along with what bags are favorites of the different authors. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you, Angela! I've made friends things and say "use them." I wouldn't want them stashed in a drawer or closet and rot.
Hi, Shirla! I'm so happy you stopped by. I'm very project oriented. I knew these had to be finished for Christmas and with Handsome having surgery, perfect time to start. I did make a lot-twelve. But they went very fast. Just a simple outline stitch.
I ADORE handbags. As do so many other people. Please visit me often!!!
