The Hundred Foot Journey is a feel-good story. The film stars Helen Mirren, Om Puri, Manish Dayal and Charlotte Le Bon. The film is based on the novel The Hundred-Foot Journey, written by Richard C. Morais.
Here's the blurb: An Indian family opens a restaurant in a French village and upsetting the Michelin restaurant owner across the street.
I loved this movie. Yes, it is predictable to an extent. So what? Why not enjoy something for what it is? Enjoy the verbal sparring between the father and the restaurant owner. Enjoy a blossoming relationship. Enjoy a young man coming into his own. Enjoy the gorgeous scenery. And then leave...
Happy. What's wrong with that? Not a blessed thing.

Do you not go to a movie because it might be predictable?

It doesn't matter to me one bit if its predictable. If movie looks funny and is not gonna be something totally off the wall I will watch.
Saw this movie and absolutely loved it. Yes, it was predictable, but the message was great and it was different in its subject matter. The Indian family was a hoot and yet the importance of family was universal. Really enjoyed this one. And yes, I think Helen Mirren is a wonderful actress.
Hi, Anna! I didn't care if it was predictable. I wanted the journey and this one delivered. Thank you so much for sharing today.
Hi, Sylvia! That is an excellent point about the importance of the Indian family. Hugs.
Vicki, like you, I am a big Mirren fan and would see any of her movies.
I agree. What's wrong with happy and predictable? We read hundreds of books for comfort and joy and they are mostly predictable. Going to something we already know and love is a good thing.
Thanks for another great movie review :)
Hi, Florence! The great thing about this happy and predictable is the twist with the French restaurant and the Indian restaurant/family and their interaction. Which gives us a new spin on an old plot line which is what we should get!
And you're welcome. I love movies and like sharing and hearing from others.
