Learning to Drive
A soon to be divorced book critic takes driving lessons
and both instructor and student learn new truths about themselves.
Movie: This 2014 comedy (eh?) stars Ben Kingsley and Patricia Clarkson.
My thoughts: I loved this movie and wanted to see it because I admire the work of Ms. Clarkson. She took this character from rage to tears and stops in between. Mr. Kingsley's Darvan was brilliant. The movie really unfolds as these two characters test themselves in new situations and move forward.

Was driving difficult for you to learn?

Hmm well, I don't drive so that would be...yea and no. I DID have my license when I was 17, but I parked the car one day a few months later and said "Don't ever ask me to do that again"...and that was it. Almost 40 years later, I still don't drive. I don't have the self confidence to get behind the wheel. You know those people you yell at to "get off the road if you can't drive!"? Someone listened ;)
Hi, Cathy! This character never learned how to drive. I found having the right sized car makes a difference. I drove big SUVs with the boys and never knew my right end from the left end. But when I got my Wrangler, oh boy that was great. I knew every corner. Now, I drive a Patriot (4 door Jeep) and am loving it. Still can't park the Sequoia well.
Since I learned to drive so long ago, I can't remember (smile!).
