We vacationed in one of our favorite spots, Colorado Springs. We saw a bear in someone's backyard, lots of rabbits, a doe sleeping in the flower bed, and three large bucks:
We attended a nearby art festival. Didn't buy anything this year, but loved being outdoors and truly appreciate the creativity.
One morning, we were up at 5:30 to see the balloon festival. We stood amongst many balloons being unrolled, inflated, and finally, a pop upright for lifting off. Here's a scene:
Handsome and I celebrated our anniversary over a dinner at a hotel restaurant. #1 and #2 son went with us and we had great laughs and good food. For dessert, this:
So like all vacations, time does fly by and we began our drive home through thick fog which disappeared when we crested a hill. We drove the small backroad and popped out to the main highway. Then Handsome said he wanted to go to the Palo Duro Canyon. Yes! On board instantly. We drove scenic state highway 207 from Claude, Texas which looped back near Childress, Texas. As we drove toward the canyon, we were liking the ranch and farm land we saw, but more eager to see the canyon and then the road dropped and the vista opened up to the canyon. Palo Duro Canyon is the second largest in the U.S., the largest being the Grand Canyon. The road twisted and turned until we came to the rest stop and saw this:
